Art for Change: Mentor a Mentor

Nonprofit project Mentor a Mentor strives to do three key things in northern Mexico: “Empower instructors. Invest in youth. Build up a Community.”

In 2007 Rebecca moved to northern Mexico where she lived in an orphanage and taught English and Art as a form of therapy to children and youth with a background of addiction. She was daily blown away by the power of art to transform. Later in 2010 she met her husband, Javier, who worked in sport and had personally experienced the impact that an instructor can have on a youth’s life. Later in 2016 Rebecca and Javier founded Mentor a Mentor, a nonprofit project that offers employment, continuing education and mentorship to instructors as they invest back in their local community, teaching their artistic and athletic skills and transmitting positive values to children and youth at risk. When on site, Rebecca captures glimpses of what these incredible instructors do on a daily basis.
